Overview

The HPE Storage MSL3040 Tape Library is a scalable, modular data protection solution designed for SMB to mid-sized environments. It starts with a fully functional 3U base unit that can be equipped with up to three drives and operates as a compact yet powerful backup and archival system. From there, it can scale up to 48U with expansion modules, supporting up to 640 cartridges and 48 half-height LTO tape drives for up to 28.8 PB of compressed storage. Ideal for long-term backup and archiving, it offers data encryption, WORM support, and remote management. Providing an air-gapped solution against the threat of ransomware. The HPE Storage MSL3040 Tape Library delivers reliable, secure, and cost-effective storage, making it an excellent choice for businesses needing secure, scalable, and low-cost data retention.

Features

Partitioning allows each partitioned library to be presented to the host as an independent library, separate from other partitions in the library.

For investment protection, you can reuse existing LTO-9, LTO-8, or LTO-7 drives or upgrade to new drives. There are no additional license fees for installing new drives in an existing library.

HPE Storage MSL3040 Tape Library offers 13 cartridge slots or 600 TB (using LTO-9 tapes and 2.5:1 compression) of capacity per 1U of rack space, scaling from 40 to 640 slots with a single expandable library; there is no need to replace it as your requirements grow.

Supports up to 48 half-height LTO-9, LTO-8, or LTO-7 SAS or FC Ultrium drives for exceptional performance. Drives and expansion units install easily and configure quickly without disruption.

HPE StoreEver MSL3040 Secure Manager LTU provides an additional level of security that lets you control access to the tape library by authorizing specific servers. It increases reliability by blocking disruptive traffic from unauthorized hosts to the library.

Easily manage your media both in or out of the library with a standard barcode reader and removable magazines.

High availability path failover uses host drivers in conjunction with library and drive firmware to manage multiple paths across multiple SANs. It presents a single drive or robot path to applications and automatically transfers commands to an alternate path if the original one is lost.

HPE Command View for Tape Libraries – Data Verification proactively validates and non-disruptively scans the quality of data stored on LTO tape cartridges, helping ensure the successful retrieval of data.
